Will Patching was born and raised in ‘Sarf Lunnon’, Engerland, or at least, that’s how he pronounces it (South London to the uninitiated)! Will has recently released 'Gaslighting', the final novel in his dark and compelling 'Remorseless' crime thriller trilogy.
Q1. Hello Will! Can You Tell Us A Bit About Yourself And Your Books? I’m a semi-retired Brit who opted out of the corporate rat race in 1998, and since then I have lived abroad, travelled, had several businesses, and of course, now I write crime thrillers...’ |

Ester: Thanks for taking time to speak with me, Will. First, what made you decide to become a writer?
Will: When I was at school I won an essay competition aged 14 and since then I wanted to write a novel. My first attempt was dreadful but I was only 16! I never did get beyond the first ten thousand words… Click here to read the full interview... |
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?
Will: Sparse! For me personally, too much description of characters’ appearances and their surroundings bogs things down, so I leave much of that to the reader’s imagination. I do however, focus on the psychological aspects and delve deeply into the minds of my key characters. This is particularly evident in Remorseless... Click here to read the full interview... |
Editor’s note: "In this 63rd installment of The Rap Sheet’s “Story Behind the Story” series, we give the stage over to British author (but current Thailand resident) Will Patching, the author of The Hack and Remorseless, the latter of which was released as an audiobook at the end of last year.
Below, Patching writes about the psychopathic protagonist in Remorseless and what he learned about psychopaths as a result of his work to create that character." Click here to read the full article... |
"Fellow author Will Patching is fascinated by psychopaths. He has a website dedicated to just this topic. And the villain in his British noir mystery, Remorseless, is a character study in psychopathology.
"Will and I had a lovely long chat about all sorts of disturbing subjects, including psychopaths and the absence of guilt that allows many a murderer to do what they do..." Click here to read the transcript or listen to the podcast... |
